Introduction

Following is a script for a home movie that was never made. I made a few minor tweaks to the text when uploading it, including to formatting, punctuation, and language. For example, in the original script, I said "focus thing", but in the uploaded version I used the actual name for the technique I had in mind: "rack focus".

The script

Person #1 with a hat walks to the lake and goes fishing. Comes back and see a hole in ground and investigates. Do a shot from behind something (like grass) while Person #1 pretends to get eaten. Show hat on one half of the screen and have credits. In same shot, do rack focus to show someone else, Person #2, walking up to hat and picking it up and wearing it.

Person #2

I guess I can just take this hat.

Person #2 continues walking and hat falls off. New close shot of hat on ground and Person #2 picks it up, revealing a hole underneath. Person #2 investigates and gets eaten; maybe show out-of-focus hat or field and have different things fly into the screen.

Cut to a news report.

Walter Concrete

Recent reports of a caterpillar are coming in. All 12 hats of the 13 victims have been found by Tomastik Lake.

Shot from behind of Scientist watching TV. He turns his head and camera focuses on his head. Gets on his shoes and walks out the door.

In a different shot, Stupid Guy watches TV.

Stupid Guy

(referring to the caterpillar) That worm has to go!

Stupid Guy walks out door.

In a new shot, another guy, Otter, watches TV.

Otter

That worm should be saved. I've gotta protect it!

Otter gets up and walks out door.
